YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY more YAY

As you can tell I am very excited. ;-)

We booked a vacation to cruise to the Bahamas. !!!!

!!!
!!
!

Ok, and yes, Bear has said that he would not go a cruise again. However, in light of the recent scare for sw.ine fl.u in Mexico we were trying to look for other ideas. Because Mexico was our first choice for something cheap and FUN to do as a trip. We didn't totally rule it out because of the flu... And we have said we would not go there on a cruise again because it is more fun to fly there and lay on the beach the entire time with all the food and drinks you could want.

But sadly, with the flu stuff and then us just waiting too long, we couldn't really find a deal good enough to go there (in our opinion anyway) plus we had this nagging feeling that we wanted to go somewhere we haven't been before. Those thoughts turned into dreams of going to Hawaii instead. The rooms and flights right now are super good deals! But once we started looking at all we would want to do, it just adds up really fast and to way too much. Something for another time.

So then Bear found a cruise out of Miami to Nassau, Bahamas, Cococay (some cruise ship private island) and Key West, Florida. And we looked everywhere high and low to see what kind of deals we could get on that or something similar plus airfare. And finally we settled on it and hit all the buttons ;-) I admit I was little crazed after we hit the button and spent the money. All these things run through my mind - OMG DID WE DO THE RIGHT THING? GAH. Will it be cheaper tomorrow? ect ect ect

Then Bear sent me these pictures today from Google Earth.

Yep. I think we did the right thing. So excited!! I hope I can get some pictures like that too!

Una mas cerveza por favor senorita!

Sernorrrrieeeeeetttaaa! That is the song playing right now. (country, so not everyone may be familiar... but eh) And how appropriate since I spent a major part of my evening looking for an all inclusive beach vacation. Hee, we can all dream can't we?*

The hubby is out of the house and it's just me for the weekend. Wow, I am so excited with all the things I want to do. And I was feeling sleepy (I guess after this long work week!) and I even made coffee so I could stay up and do all the things I have wished I was at home doing all week. So with that said, this is a caffeine induced post, so fair warning right now to watch out. Keep reading at your own risk. But I need to do a lot of updating so here goes... I think I might break it up into a few posts now that I think about it....

First, I opened this blog to the public so you no longer have to be invited to read it. What can I say, I was shy at first. But what the hey, whoever wants to read can read. What I talk about is really not too informative or interesting for the most part. But it is fun for me and that is what it is all about. So if you know someone that knows me and might be interested, feel free to invite them to read. I would like to get more comments, but then wouldn't we all I guess.

Second, I am having a garage sale next weekend with nonsoccermom. And I finally went through some clothes earlier this evening. The sad part is that some are so ragged that they will not even make it to the garage sale. I have a a throw away pile and then "I suppose it is good enough for goodwill" pile. So sad! I am scared I will not actually have enough for the sale, but nonsoccermom assures me she has alot. I hope so!

Third, I have some pictures to post. I was going through all previous posts before I opened this up to everyone and realized I never posted pictures from our Christmas break beach trip. So I will do that in a separate post.

* Bear is going to teach summer school. I KNOW what you are thinking! WHY WOULD HE DO THAT. HE HATES IT and needs a break. That is what I said too until he said we can use that $$ for vacation!! happy, happy dance :-) However, by the time we go I must be more photogenic (ie less fat). But I say that all the time... I just hope this is the time I really do something about it. -sigh-

I know I am random and totally hopped up on caffeine so this is more than a little spastic.

Vacation recap

Just kidding....  because, well keep reading.

April 20 was my 7th wedding anniversary and my lovely husband bought me an iMac.  YAY!   But the reason there are no pictures from vacation is that they are not on this computer yet.  It will probably take me a while to transfer them into the lovely iPhoto and then perhaps I could even make a really cool movie or slide show.  However I have no idea how the mac movies play with PCs.  So I will have to learn!

I am all about the learning because I am a big dork in that way.  I will sit here on my big butt for hours just figuring out how each program works.  It is entertaining, I don't know why.  It just is.

I am a little disappointed because I thought I might be able to make cool blogger templates, but sadly, to publish with iWeb you have to have your own domain name and such.  I might have to get us a bridgetandbear domain.  But that just seems silly when I can have it here for free!  We'll see... at the moment I am also completely overwhelmed by the whole deal.  To point that I am not sure I will EVER use all the features this thing has.

So in the meantime... here I am in front of my new Mac.  This is done in Bear style, Dee.  So WARNING!  Funny pictures!  Swallow your coke and get off the phone ;-)

Sadly the lighting in here is terrible (because I really look much more beautiful than this at 9 in the evening, I swear!)

Christmas Vacation

Is finally, officially and excitedly here. WOO!

Dear baby Jesus, thank you ever so much for the 12.5 days of straight vacation. Amen. Let's party!!

Seriously though, I am so thankful I work somewhere that get's these days off automatically, I hope to go into 2009 a little more relaxed and that many days off certainly can't hurt that goal!

So the husband is out playing golf (again since he played in 36 degree weather yesterday!) but I guess that is a good thing. He has spent so much money on golf stuff lately that his butt better be out there. And I told him he better start kicking some butt ON the golf course soon or I would be really disappointed. We'll see.

I am just at the house and I could be cleaning it. But who wants to really do that!? Not me. And I have had a soar throat so I feel that is an excellent reason for why I won't have done it when he gets back home. The only thing is that I kinda want to go to Ninfa's later... gonna have to come up with some reason I had a speedy recovery for that. Maybe a nap is in order? And when I wake up I feel SooooOOOOOOooooo much better? Hmm, maybe. I also have a hair cut appointment at 6 so I have to make that first. I probably should cancel and not spend the money, BUT it would look much better for Christmas if I get it cut. And let's face it, I need all the help I can get in the looks department these days. I am really looking older and it is sad.

We had Christmas at my Mema's Saturday. And then Christmas at MILs on Sunday. They went well, but it is just hard to believe they are over. Only one more official Christmas left. Then we go on our little beach trip with my parents for their Christmas. I think they are a little sad I am not making time to be with them specifically on Christmas Eve or Day. Well they are invited for Christmas Eve every year at Bear's family so that is there prerogative. And then we are going to church with them Christmas Day. But somehow I think they still felt like they wanted us to come over one of those times. But mom held it back since she gets upset with Mema thinking she has to have stuff on "The Day" for holidays and she thinks it is silly. But I can tell it kinda still bothers her. I can see how it would but that the same time we are spending 4 days with them on a trip.

Anywho... this post is really just to take up some of my time. And make another, probably the last, post for December and 2008.

Merry Christmas to the whole 5 of you who read this!!! And just so you know, this is my very OFFICIAL Merry Christmas to each of you because I decided not to send out Christmas cards this year. I decided I didn't feel like stressing about them, so well, I just didn't!

Much ado

about nothing...

It is Friday again and here I am for my weekly post.

Last weekend was fun and quite relaxing. We had a talk about money before our trip and I was told by my husband to stop stressing out about it. So after alot of kicking and screaming I have tried to take his advice. It made for a nice weekend where I didn't care what we did or how much it cost (to a certain degree). I think there were several factors that helped me do this. 1) Bears new job 2)excepting the fact we have bills that will not be paid off in the immediate future no matter how hard I try 3)Bear took care of all the details.

Friday we went out to dinner with D, J and C to Pancho's. Bear freakin' loves him some Pancho's and none of the rest of us can complain either. So then we went to the liquor store on the way home. We were planning on playing a game but ended up sitting on the couch watching the Olympics. D and I tried to drink a bottle of wine, but failed to finish it before we wanted to go to bed. Lame, well yes maybe, but I believe we were all totally fine with it.

Saturday D and J made us breakfast, which was awfully nice of them. Then later that afternoon Bear and I headed to our hotel and got ready for the concert with Coach G and his wife.

The concert was awesome, except for the fact that it was so LOUD. I don't mean to sound 80, but seriously it was MUCH louder than necessary. They were trying to blast the sound to China as far as I could tell and when we left I think a freight train could have been coming up behind us and none of us would have known. Bear says his ears are still ringing (let's face it, he acts 80 sometimes so are we surprised?). But, we had sweet seats on the club level of Reliant. That made things even more enjoyable. There was a bar directly outside the door. But I believe Bear and Coach G repeatedly went to this one bar where they found "the cheap beer". You know, as far as cheap goes at these things anyway.

Sunday we went shopping at the new outlet mall. We wanted to take advantage of tax free weekend and it was nice to shop without as much guilt as usual. The only thing was that I am still refusing to go up a size in clothing so I didn't walk away with too much. Bear racked up though which is good.

Work this week has been so so. Not alot going on which is both good and bad. If someone is not chasing me with a deadline, then not too much gets done. Bear has been adjusting to his new jobs and gives me either an upbeat report at the end of the day OR he has the "oh holy hell what have I done" speech waiting for me. The vibe can also vary between these 2 all in one day. I keep telling him to wait until Monday and he actually meets the kids and then tell me how he feels. On this one I don't know though... it might be an interesting year to say the least. WHO knows where he will end up next year if he doesn't like it.

So this weekend we will be out at the Fish Fry. I was more excited about it last week than I am now. Hopefully it is not too terribly awfully hot.

And I have no way to cleverly end this so BYE!

Loving Life

Today is a good day.

(much better than the last day I posted, obviously!)

I am not sure why exactly today is so good. But it is. Maybe because I laughed alot this morning and that always feels great. Laughter is definitely the best medicine, always.

June has gone by without one post from me. So here is the low down on June so far... I am feeling listy today.

The first weekend in June was jam packed with fun.

  • Friday night we went out for a bachelorette party. I didn't drink because I didn't feel good. We ate at Abuelo's and I sent everyone off to have a good time at Northgate without me.
  • Saturday I slept in and cleaned house. Then we left for a wedding in G-town. It was a very nice, sweet wedding on the courthouse steps. The reception was basically a grand pasture party complete with BBQ, beer and a live band. I was still not feeling good and got a killer headache from the heat or something and so went home early. Again, no drinking because I felt bad. And I didn't get to dance to the great band. Probably saved me a hangover though!
  • We stayed at the MILs and then tried to get up to go to church on Sunday. But, turns out our alarm clock was wrong by one hour in the wrong direction. So we woke up too late. Instead we went to eat at MY FAVORITE chinese place on the planet - Hunan's in G-town. OMG I love that place. I have never had anything anywhere else like it. Then I convinced Bear to take me out to my Grandparents in Fedor. I needed to visit but also had alterior motives: fresh veggies from the garden. When we go there I thought my grandpa was taking a nap and I didn't want to scare him or wake him up, so we got a few things from the garden ourselves and left. (Turned out he was at a family reunion which I did not know was going on that day down the road.) So then I said why don't we visit my Mema. We go there and she was not home either! I took some more vegetables and left her a note.
  • Then we were off to DB again for a graduation party. The end. (and maybe it was not such a good weekend after all, nothing seemed to work out and there was no drinking! pooh)

On to last weekend....

  • We were off Thursday and Friday and went to the FRIO. I love the Frio! Except this year it was so very, very, very low. And we didn't stay where we normally stay, instead we "camped" at Bec's RV which is not on the river with A & M (hee!) and S & R from DB. We stayed in A & M's pop up camper. It was fun except for the water being so low. We couldn't really tube on the parts of the river we normally do. And my back got a really bad sunburn on the last day.
  • Basically, we would get up and make breakfast. Then fart around until 11, then tube, then come back and take a 2 to 3 hour nap. Then we would wonder if we should go on another tube, but instead we would just cook dinner and eat AGAIN. I gained 5 lbs. No kidding. From 4 days. So 1.25 pounds per day. As if I needed THAT! ah vacations...

What's up this weekend: Aunt D's wedding in DB, stay tuned.

I think part of my good mood today is also that work has finally slowed down and given me a much needed (and in my book dare I say deserved) break. I got done with some really big proposals and it feels nice to breath and you know maybe check the news while at work! Or just in general get a moment to breath! So YAY for that.
